Youth Protection
Training - Online!
Has your certification for Youth Protection expired?
It's good for 2 years, but all adults that work with the boys -
* Scoutmasters * Assistant Scoutmasters * Merit Badge Counselors *
* Camp out leaders * any Adult with the Troop *
should take this training.
If you have not gone through the training at all, you can take it free
at any training event within the Council, these are usually held on the
first Saturday of the month (check the training website for the next
opportunity.)
If you just need to get recertified, you can take the
web based course.

Youth
Protection Online Training -
to go to the website.
|
You will need the
newest version of Adobe Macromedia Flash Player - which they
provide on the site - to view the online training. If you have a
cable connection, the download won't take that long, dial-up will take
about a minute with a 56k modem. If you don't know if you have
the latest version or not, you may want to download it anyway.
You will need to register at the site - user name and
password - and if you have your BSA Membership card, you can enter your
BSA number on the site as well. (This will help the Council
update their training records and make sure you are credited with
taking the course.) It will take "about" one hour to 1-1/2 hours
to go through the online course. You can stop in the middle and
continue at another time. You would just "fast forward" to the
point you stopped at. There is a certificate that you print at
the end showing that you completed the course - print off two copies -
one for you and one for the counsel office. (If everyone takes
the online version about the same time, I (Mary Ann) can turn in the
second printed copy of your certificate to the Etowah Training Chair at
the next Roundtable.)
